JEFFREY LEWIS CORRECTION OFFICER COLLINS

On October 26, 2015, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Correction Officer Jeffrey Lewis was at his home in Lakeview when he heard screaming coming from a nearby house. Correction Officer Lewis responded to the house finding it fully engulfed in flames with an upstairs resident trapped. Retrieving a ladder, Correction Officer Lewis rescued the resident and his dog, saving both lives. Correction Officer Lewis then obtained a hose to attempt to extinguish the fire. The structure was completely gutted. Correction Officer Lewis’ heroic and quick actions are credited with saving the man and dog’s lives.
