I/M was let out of his cell to use the phone and began to argue about not being able to use his tablet at the kiosk. The I/M was ordered to calm down but without provocation approached the Officer and started punching him multiple times in the head and face area. The Officer struck the I/m back to defend himself. Another Officer came to the aid of the assaulted Officer and used body holds in an attempt to stop the violent I/M. The I/M continued to fight and punched the assisting Officer in the head and body. Another Officer responded and administered one application of OC spray which did not have the desired effect. The I/M continued striking the Officers and four more applications of OC were applied again without the desired effect. All of the responding Officers were able to utilize body holds and bring the I/M to the floor and apply mechanical restraints. The I/M was stood up and all force had ceased. Two of the Officers were transported to Vassar Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Injuries included facial swelling, shoulder, knee and neck injuries. All were treated for OC exposure. I/M assigned to special housing without incident.
