Seven Officers Injured, Two Officers Exposed to Blood
Alden, NY – Seven officers were injured during an assault by an inmate at the maximum security correctional facility last week. In addition, two officers were treated for blood exposure at an outside hospital.
On Sunday, November 8, at approximately 8:35 p.m., an officer gave an inmate an order to get off the phone and return to his cell. The inmate refused the order. He was given several more orders to return to his cell. The inmate began to comply and just before he was about to enter the his cell, he grabbed a broom handle and came towards staff.
