Several Officers Struck with Unknown Liquids, Requiring Treatment
Alden and Brocton, NY – Several reports of throwing incidents by inmates aimed at staff have been reported at two Western New York correctional facilities. The incidents were unprovoked and involved unknown liquids but required several officers to be evaluated for treatment.
The first incident happened at Wende Correctional Facility on April 18th, when an officer who was escorting an inmate to programming was struck by a liquid thrown by another inmate from his cell. The unknown substance struck the officer in the face, neck and shoulder. The officer was taken for medical evaluation and remained on duty. According to state records, the 21-year-old inmate, who was serving a two-year sentence for two counts of robbery, was released from prison a week after this incident. FULL PRESS RELEASE
