Inmate Scheduled to be Release Next Week Attacks Staff in Holding Pen

Romulus, NY – A 23 year old inmate schedule to be released on October 5, attacked and injured three officers in a holding cell at the maximum security correctional facility on September 13.

Initially the inmate was ordered out of the holding cell to be escorted to the infirmary. The inmate refused several orders to exit the cell. The cell door was opened and three officers entered the cell and placed the inmate in a body hold and forced him into the corner of the cell. The inmate became combative and kicked one officer several times in the groin, upper leg and knee. He kicked a second officer in the hand as the officers struggled to contain the inmate. The officers were able to force the inmate to the floor, where he remained combative. One of the officers maintained control of the inmate’s legs as another officer applied leg restraints. Once in restraints, the inmate became compliant. He was brought to his feet and escorted to the infirmary for evaluation.  FULL PRESS RELEASE
