On 12-13-18 at 12:45 PM a Red Alert was called to B7C Corridor. CO instructed an I/M to the wall for a pat frisk. While facing the wall the I/M was talking over the Officer in an aggressive tone and turned away from the wall striking the CO with his left elbow to the left side of the CO’s face. The I/M continued to strike the CO in the left side of his face and head. The CO went down to the ground on his knees at which point the I/M starting choking the CO with his arm wrapped around the Officer’s neck. Officer responded to assist the other Officer and used a bear hug type body hold and forced the I/M off of the Officer by driving him to the floor face first. The I/M was given several direct orders to comply but orders were refused. I/M then punched the CO in the face. Another CO responded to assist staff and used body holds to both legs of the i/M in an attempt to gain control. Another CO arrived and used OC spray to the I/M’s facial area without the desired effect. The I/M continued to fight with the responding CO’s. Additional Officers arrived and continued to struggle with a combative I/M until mechanical restraints were applied. Once in restraints, the I/M was brought to his feet and escorted to SHU for decontamination and medical. All staff were seen by medical at Vassar Hospital and returned to duty thereafter.
