CO observed I/M climb up on bed in drug watch room and begin pulling on light fixture and yelling that he was going to kill himself. CO had another CO notify area supervisor while he, believing the I/M was in immediate danger of hurting himself ,entered the room to prevent the I/M from self-harm. At this point the I/M punched the officer in the jaw knocking him rearward and leaving the CO incapacitated. Another CO entered the room and attempted body holds on the I/M in order to prevent further injury. I/M continued to struggle violently and struck the other CO in the right eye. Responding CO’s used two applications of OC spray and body holds to gain control of the I/M and apply mechanical restraints gaining compliance from the I/M. Both Officers were treated at outside hospital for their injuries.
